We will continue to have a “knit-in” group at the library. People can come in every Friday (2PM) and work on their knit or crochet projects and get help or encouragement or just have someone to chat with while they work. The group can work on individual projects, but should also do some projects for charity.
We have over 60 hats to send to the neonatal intensive care unit at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington. We will work on a group afghan for the Haynes House beginning in January.
All knitters or crocheters welcome and donations of yarns or materials cheerfully accepted!
Please contact us at the library if you have any questions.

First Place in the “Anything but Pie apple dessert contest” went to Robyn Lipshutz with her Apple Caramel Bars. Judi Brown’s Jewish Apple Cake was the second place winner with Theresa Loomis’ “On a whim!” sauteed apples and Tamika Carty’s Gala Concord cookies tied for third.
Sixteen entries, six incredible judges, a cool emcee, and four great prizes made the Pember Library’s first annual “Anything But Pie” contest a success!

A Treasure Hunt: Letterboxing, Geocaching & History combined in a family activity!
Continuing its 100th Anniversary Year Celebration, the Pember Library & Museum will stage a Letterbox event July 18 – August 4 for children and adults who love treasure hunts. Participants in the treasure hunt can pick up letterbox clues at the Pember, 33 West Main Street in Granville, New York. Both children and adults can search for hidden letterboxes at various historical places around Granville. Inside each waterproof letterbox will be a journal for comment about the historical site. Participants use the stamp in the box to stamp their “passports” to show they’ve been there.
Participants will also be given geocaching coordinates to help them locate the same hidden boxes. Geocaching is a modern-day scavenger hunt played throughout the world by adventure seekers. Equipped with GPS devices, the idea is to find hidden containers, called geocaches (in this case, plastic letterboxes), outdoors and then share your experiences online. People from all age groups enjoy geocaching and share a strong sense of community and support for the environment.
Prizes will be awarded to those who successfully complete the hunt. (Prizes available after August 4).
Become part of our 100th year anniversary by investigating, searching, and enjoying the history of Granville, New York.
