Thursday Tall Tales:

Children and their caregivers are welcome at our weekly story hour. We will have a variety of “tales” to tell using books, puppets and flannel board story boards. Please join us!

See Event Calendar for the program schedule.

This group meets every Thursday from 5:30 – 6:15pm.

Learning with Linda:

One Saturday each month, Linda will present a program with crafts and stories.  This program begins at 10:30 AM. Check the Event Calendar for details.

Fireside Stories:

On the other three Saturdays each month, volunteers Robyn, Pat and Mary Lou will read stories to the children near the fireplace in the main room. This program begins at 10:30 AM. Check the Event Calendar for details.

Adult Book Club:

The  Book Club meets the 3rd Thursday of each month to review and discuss books: current titles, fiction, autobiographies and literature. Come share your opinion and enjoy meeting with friends and neighbors. Check the Event Calendar for the latest titles. The club has decided not to meet in December.

Teen Book Club:

Time to be announced. Review and discuss books, and enjoy time with friends.  We’re looking for a parent adviser for this group.  Please call the library to discuss volunteering.

Computers for Seniors:

These are computer courses aimed at providing beginner and intermediate instruction including email and the Internet for senior citizens.

There has been a huge interest in this. We have additional funding from the Friends of the Pember Library so we can offer one more class this year.  People already on the waiting list will be offered the class first. Three weeks of classes in August are already full. Please call the library or come in to to get on a waiting list for the next series of classes. Tell your friends who want to learn about using a computer.  Barb Young will again be teaching.

Summer Reading Program:

During the summer, we encourage school-aged children to continue reading by offering a NYS sponsored reading program.  There are programs for beginning readers through elementary school students and a separate program for teens.

Throughout the summer, by reading books, children earn rewards including more books, in addition to making crafts and sharing time together.

For 2010, Make a Splash @ Your Library is the theme for children and Make Waves@ Your Library the theme for teens. Additional information will be posted as we get it.
