A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Pember Library and Museum will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at the Pember. This is a regular meeting and open to the public.
Beginning computer classes for senior citizens will once again be offered thanks to a grant from The Washington County Home for Aged Women and additional funding from the Friends of the Library. Barbara Young will teach six 1 1/2 hour sessions beginning May9. Sign up now to get a place in the class. The class size is limited to eight people.

Earlier this week, the Pulitzer prize for fiction went to “A Visit from the Goon Squad” by Jennifer Egan (Alfred A. Knopf). Back in 2007, One-Minute Book Reviews’ Janice Harayda put up a list of 10 great novels that didn’t win and which books beat them. It is the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. Many new books are being written and others being re-published to take advantage of people’s interest in this period of American history.
