Library Launches Online Book Club

Finding a Great Book to Read Just Got Easier So many books, so little time. For all those busy people, the Pember Library has a new service sponsored by the Friends of the Pember Library: an Online Book Club that delivers books electronically. Each day, Monday through Friday, the library e-mails subscribers a portion of a book that takes about 5-minutes to read. They’re able to read two or three chapters from a book during the week. I remember Genii’s daughter coming in to the library asking if we needed a volunteer. Boy, did we! Genii came in and helped us with cataloging and transferring all of our books from our old automated system to a new one. She worked hard, always with a sense of humor. Spring Book Sale

The Friends of the Pember Library will host a spring paperback book sale Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the main room of the Pember Library. All paperback books will be $.25. Paperbacks for adults and children will be available. Donate your gently used paperbacks to the library. Friends of the Library meeting

The next meeting of the Friends will take place in the main room of the library. We will discuss the spring paperback book sale that will be held Saturday, April 25 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in the main room of the library. Senior Computer Classes

If you are 50 or older and would like to learn how to use a computer or improve the skills you have, now is the time to join us for a couple of lessons – no pressure, relaxed atmosphere, and hopefully, some enjoyment. Each three-hour class will be divided between Monday & Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Annual Holiday Open House

Please join us for our annual Holiday Open House. Our lovely Victorian building will be decorated in celebration of the holiday season. We will have snacks, music and something for the kids! We coordinate our Open House with the Slate Valley Museum so you can also visit there across the walking bridge.

What are you reading?

I’m currently reading a couple of books. How to knit a wild bikini by Christie Ridgeway, an escapist romance that I am only a couple of chapters into. From previews I read about it, it looks like it may get a little steamy… Also by my bedside is A Pocketful of History: Four Hundred Years of America–One State Quarter at a Time by Jim Noles. It is a fascinating book of readable nonfiction about the history behind each state quarter. Over …
