Caring for Kids

Join us at the Pember  Library, 33 West Main St., Granville for Caring for Kids: If you enjoy babysitting or just spending time with young children, have we got an opportunity for you!  On March 24 & 31, 6-8 PM and April 7, 1-4 PM Cornell Cooperative Extension of Washington County is offering a workshop series that will focus on ages and stages for kids, choosing toys & activities for children, discipline and child safety.  We’ll even fit in some simple snacks & toys for you to make.

Any youth who is 12 years and older as of April 1, 2010 is eligible. You should plan to take all three sessions when you sign up. The fee for the series is $5 per youth.

Computers for Seniors

The February “computers for seniors” classes have filled up fast! Barb Young will be teaching another session of the popular class at the Pember Library. Classes will run from 10:00AM to 11:30AM Mondays and Fridays from March 22 through April 2.

Classes will cover internet and email, word processing, and using the library card catalog with databases.

You must pre-register for the series of classes. Class size is limited to eight people. Please call the library to register or for more information 518-642-2525.

Quilling class

The quilling classes have been well attended. Two more classes are planned for February.

Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Pre-registration is not required, materials provided. Beginners welcome. For information, call 518-642-2525.

UPDATE: The February 25 class was canceled.  We have added two more classes on March 4 and 25.

Pat Oathout will present additional classes on quilling January 14 and 28 at 6: 00 pm. Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs.
Peg Browe will show us how to create a memory board January 23 at 1:00 pm
We will continue to have the knit-in on Fridays at 2:00 pm. Bring your knitting or crocheting and work while you chat with other crafters. We will also begin an afghan for donation to the Haynes House. If you are a beginner and need help, there will be someone there to help.
