Community Corner Debuts

Slate Valley Opening and Reception

7-9 PM, Friday, June 6

FREE EVENT

June First Friday at The Pember in Granville will feature the eclectic work of Don Taylor. In addition to his leather work and jewelry, Don will be showing scenic furniture pieces, as well as paintings of Betty Taylor.

First Fridaywill also be “Open House Day” for the Friends of the Pember, and the Friends will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about their group. Through book sales and ongoing fundraising, the Friends have worked diligently to provide books, computers and needed services for the library. Their recognition is long overdue, and marks the debut of “Community Corner” for non-profits at FF.

Chris Morash will be performing a mix of his own songs and classics.

Scarlotta’s Car Hop will set up an ice cream machine to provide refreshing dessert.

Nearby, it’s opening night at the Slate Valley Museum for their five month-long Slate as Muse National Art Exhibition. The show is a major exhibit, featuring the work of 19 artists. There will be an opening reception, curatorial tour and a juried awards ceremony.

From an announcement on their web site: “Join us in celebrating the opening of Slate as Muse and vote for your favorite artwork. Many of the Slate as Muse artists will be available to answer questions and share their insights into their work. An Awards Ceremony will begin at 7:30pm. A $300 First Prize Award, juried by Erin B. Coe, Chief Curator of The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls, NY, will be announced. Refreshments will be served.”

First Friday is the first Friday of every month. Hours are always 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
