Bridging Communities through Letterwriting & Creative Expression Workshops and Community Pen Pals

NOTE: A second class has been added at the Pember for September 9 at 6PM.

Beginning this August in Washington County & SoVT, The Gold Trout of Manchester Vermont is launching free programs at the Manchester Community Library in Manchester, Vermont and the Pember Library in Granville, New York.

The on-site programs at the library this month will allow students to explore the tradition of letterwriting, learn calligraphy and expression through art using watercolor mediums. The theme of the library summer reading programs is “Every Hero Has a Story” and the students will be invited to “Write a Letter to Your Hero”.

The on-site program at the Pember Library, located at 33 West Main Street, Granville, New York 12832, will be Wednesday, August 12 at 6pm. The on-site program at the Manchester Community Library, located at 138 Cemetery Avenue, Manchester Center Vermont 05255, will be Tuesday, August 18 at 3pm.

Students are also invited to register with their local library for the new “Community Pen Pal” program beginning this month. Letters will be sent to and from the libraries and delivered to the participating pen pals.

The Gold Trout will be providing take-away packages for each of the youth participants to continue their letterwriting practice. This kicks-off the year of daily letterwriting at The Gold Trout. The community is invited to take part.

For interested parents of students and students ages 5-18, please pre-register by contacting the Manchester Community Library at (802) 362-2607 or the Pember Library at (518) 642-2525 to reserve your space or email hello@goldtrout.com.
