The next meeting of the Friends will take place in the main room of the library. We will be making plans for our huge summer book sale which will be held at the Mary J Tanner School cafeteria. Plans are currently to have the sale on July 9-10 with setup on July 7 & 8. Other possible fundraisers will be discussed (a raffle or a plant sale, maybe?) The February “computers for seniors” classes have filled up fast! Barb Young will be teaching another session of the popular class at the Pember Library. Classes will run from 10:00AM to 11:30AM Mondays and Fridays from March 22 through April 2. Classes will cover internet and email, word processing, and using the library card catalog with databases. On Wednesday, February 17, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. the Pember Library will be taking part in “Snapshot: A Day in the Life of a Library” by collecting statistics, comments, and photographs from one day to provide tangible proof that libraries consistently provide invaluable services to our communities. The quilling classes have been well attended. Two more classes are planned for February. Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Pre-registration is not required, materials provided.
