The book club decided to read more of Mark Kurlansky's books. They are well-done and interesting. They also plan to read 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus by Charles C. We have lots of VHS movies and audio books on cassette that didn’t make it to the summer sale. We will have a special sale of these items on September 29, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. There may also be some paperbacks for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Pember book acquisition fund.

There will be a meeting of the Friends of the Pember Library at 2:00 PM September 18. We will evaluate the book sale, plan future fundraising and hopefully have a volunteer to take the position of treasurer.

The Pember Library received 67 new books for toddlers through high school in July. The books were awarded to the library through the Libri Foundation of Eugene, Oregon “Books for Children Grant.” The grant is a matching funds grant in which the library can receive up to $1050 worth of books provided they raise one third of the cost outside of the library’s regular budget process.
