Have you ever been bullied? Chances are you have. Nearly all of us run into a bully at some point; name-calling, harassment, rumor spreading, etc. Combating bullies may feel overwhelming.
New York State Trooper Phil Poitier will present a program at the Pember Library on Friday, July 17 at 6 PM about dealing with bullies. He will give an overview of what bullying is, how bullies target their victims, and different types of bullies. He will offer strategies for dealing with bullies and tell how parents, teachers and other adults can help.
Bullying is any behavior that is deliberate, hurtful and repeated over time. Bullying can take place just about anywhere: at school, on the bus, at sports practice, even over the internet. It can be physical, verbal, emotional, social, behavioral or any combination. There are many ways to cope with bullying or to support someone who has been a victim of a bully.
This program is intended for middle school and high school students as well as adults. For more information, contact the Pember Library at 33 West Main Street in Granville, 518 642-2525.
