Our list of new and popular books matches pretty well with the NY Times Bestseller lists. We have twelve of the top fifteen from the fiction list and four of the top five from the nonfiction list. It’s Black Friday so probably many of you have been out and about since 4AM. Did you find any great buys? Do you shop online? Is your holiday shopping all done or are you waiting to see if there will be better sales just before Christmas?

I have been gathering small items for a couple of months now and everyone in our family knows that spending is cut way back this year. Stockings are being filled from the dollar stores.

Magazines and books are usual gifts in our family along with electronics and automotive stuff. Our children are grown so we don’t even look in toy stores anymore (but I think the boys might still enjoy putting together a Lego kit.)

If you are a member at the Pember Library, you could win this Nora Roberts book or the Santa plaque to use as a holiday gift by sending an email through the email link to the right. You only need to include your name and phone #. (We won’t share that info.) You may also enter by coming in to the library and filling out an entry blank. Two winners will be randomly selected from all entries submitted by December 15, 2008.

The library recently got a donation of several brand new books. These five 2008 books are already in our collection so we decided to share them with our library users.
