Find out what the Pember Library offers on Saturday, February 7, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Make a bookmark, get a library card, check out a book, read a book to your child in our reading corner, make a valentine to be sent to a soldier (10 AM until noon), decorate your own cupcake (noon) or complete our library treasure hunt to be entered into a drawing for a special prize. A special Saturday Morning story time will be held at 10:30 am. We are hoping that after visiting the library on February 7th you will decide which day works best for your family, and that will be your Take Your Child to the Library Day all year long!

Pennies for Pember
It’s official. As of this week, we are half way to our goal of collecting a million pennies!
Some of them have been in the form of dollar bills, fives, tens & twenties, with lots of other change, even some checks. A huge Thank You to all the folks out there who have helped us on the way with this fund-raiser!
Fun Erupts at the Pember
February through May, the Pember Library and the Pember Museum will present several joint programs. Each program will feature books, science and a fun project or video.
On February 18, 3:30 to 4:30 PM, “Fun Explodes” at the Pember. There will be a volcano competition between the library and museum. Vote on your favorite and watch them erupt. Touch real volcanic glass; see a short video on volcanoes and find more information using books available in the library.
This discovery program is free, open to school-age children and held in the library, 33 West Main St, Granville NY.
Tax forms
We should be getting NYS tax forms soon. For a head start, here is a link to NY State Tax forms online: http://www.tax.ny.gov/forms/ ($.25 per page if you use our printers and ink).
We will not be sent any federal forms. Federal tax forms can be downloaded from the internet, ($.25 per page if you use our printers and ink). Go to http://www.irs.gov/Forms-&-Pubs where you can access and acquire both electronic and print media.
You can download irs.gov/Pub17 , a publication that covers the general rules for filing a federal income tax return. It supplements the information contained in your tax form instruction booklet. It explains the tax law to make sure you pay only the tax you owe and no more.
Ancestry Library Edition
This is now available in the library. It works similarly to ancestry.com although there are a few differences. Come in and give it a try!

A special use of Central Library Book Aid funds has made Heritage Quest available to all SALS libraries. Beginning and professional genealogists can use this powerful online resource to trace family histories and American culture from the convenience of their home or at the library.

Board Meeting
JANUARY Board Meeting CHANGED. It will now be January 22 at 6PM.
A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Pember Library and Museum will be held on the third Thursday of each month at the Pember. This is a regular meeting and open to the public.
