Microfilm

Microfilm of the following items is available at the Pember Library:

  • Granville Record Book 1787-1826
  • Census Rolls 1825-1925 (NYS census, Washington County towns)
  • Morris Rote-Rosen 1920-1922,       1935-1984
  • Granville Sentinel 1875-2003
    • MISSING: 1878-1885, 1901-1913

The microfilm machine in the reference area is now up and running and prints from it look pretty readable. This machine also has a microfiche attachment.  You can bring in your own microfiche to read (for example, some parts manuals are distributed in this way).

There is a second machine in the office which can be used as a reader. It has been cleaned and the electric film winder now works. Sorry, you cannot make prints from this machine.

Computer upgrade

The Library Catalog will be unavailable on Wednesday November 11th due to a software upgrade.  Our library will be closed in honor of Veteran’s Day.

eMail notices

We have fixed the glitch in our email notices. People who have notices set up should now get hold notices in addition to overdue notices.

SALS has also set our notices to send you an email reminder three days before an item is due.

If you would like email notices set up, please ask at the desk.

Ice Cream Social and Art Reception

Join us Saturday, June 6 from 2-5 PM, for Kid’s Day, the kick-off event in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Pember. Stewart’s has generously donated the fixings for kids to make their own ice cream sundaes. Other highlights of the day will be music with DJ Brent Tuttle and balloon animals and other activities with Melody the Clown. There will be goodie bags for the kids.

Artwork created by students at Mary J Tanner and Granville Elementary School will be on display all week in the Library and Museum.

Magazine Sponsorship

We had a wonderful response to the request for magazine sponsorships. People read it here, there was a sign in the library and a short blurb in the Granville Sentinel. Parade

Here’s a photo of Ryan and me waiting for the parade to begin. Thanks to Tiffany and Ryan for taking part in the parade (and pushing the carts). Thanks to Heather and Alyssa for their help with putting the cake together. Also thanks to Cy for his help in putting the banners on the second cart.

It was great fun. We have some other 100th birthday celebration things planned and we’ll share the details in the Sentinel and here on the blog.

We will resume regular hours beginning the week of May 19. Our hours will be:

Tuesday  9 AM to 5 PM
Wednesday & Thursday 1 PM to 8 PM
Friday 12 noon to 5 PM
Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM
