Quilling class

The quilling classes have been well attended. Two more classes are planned for February.

Quilling is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Pre-registration is not required, materials provided. Beginners welcome. For information, call 518-642-2525.

UPDATE: The February 25 class was canceled.  We have added two more classes on March 4 and 25.

How are we doing?

I was checking over the NY Times Best Sellers lists and comparing it to the Pember Library holdings. For the top 35 hardcover fiction, 29 are available at our library with 22 books in regular print, 7 in large text and 7 on audio book. Eight of the titles are available through our downloadable audio book service, SALON.

Several of the books are available in more than one format. Of the top 16, only one is not available at the Pember in any of these formats.

We have 13 of the best selling non-fiction books with 7 in regular print and 3 in large text. Two are available as audio books and 11 can be downloaded through SALON.

The lists with the Pember’s holdings highlighted is near the “new and popular” section if you want to look it over.

Knit-in continues

We will continue to have a “knit-in” group at the library. People can come in every Friday (2PM) and work on their knit or crochet projects and get help or encouragement or just have someone to chat with while they work.

We have a pattern and yarn to begin the “lapghan’ for the Haynes House.  If my calculations are correct, we should have enough yarn to make a second one that will then be raffled off for the library.

All knitters or crocheters welcome and donations of yarns or materials cheerfully accepted!

UPDATE: There has been quite a bit of interest in the afghan (lapghan). I have decided to buy more yarn and we can make another one. Respond to this post letting me know what colors you might like and I will buy the yarn this weekend.

The current project is using Red Heart yarns in Sage, Buff, and Sage Mary (variegated with the sage, buff and some purple).

NYS tax forms are available at the Pember Library.

We have

  • IT-2 Summary of W-2 Statements
  • IT-150 Resident Income Tax (short form)
  • IT- 201 Resident Income Tax (long form)
  • IT-201-ATT Other Tax Credits and Taxes
  • IT-150/201-I Instructions

We also have a three-ring binder with other forms and instructions you may need. You may photocopy these at $.10 per page. Other photocopies will remain at $.15.

Pember Board Meeting

A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Pember Library and Museum will be held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Pember. This is a regular meeting and open to the public.
