1000 Books before Kindergarten

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. Libri Grant
  The Pember Library recently received 82 new books for toddlers through high school. The books were awarded to the library through the Libri Foundation of Eugene, Oregon “Books for Children Grant.” The grant is a matching funds grant in which the library can receive up to $1050 worth of books provided they raise one third of the cost outside of the library’s regular budget process. An anonymous donor provided the matching funds and Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen donated …

Fun Erupts at the Pember
February through May, the Pember Library and the Pember Museum will present several joint programs. Each program will feature books, science and a fun project or video. On February 18, 3:30 to 4:30 PM, “Fun Explodes” at the Pember. There will be a volcano competition between the library and museum. Vote on your favorite and watch them erupt. We regret that we can’t accept any more book donations until after July 22. Our storage area is filling up Fast! Please remember that we can’t accept books that are torn or dirty and if they smell “funky,” we will put them in the garbage. The Friend’s book sale (and Slate Valley Garden Club plant & bake sale) will take place Friday, July 11, 12:00 -5:00 PM and Saturday, July 12, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
