If you try reading a new (to you) author, you may be pleasantly surprised, or you may be disappointed, but it’s certainly something you should do to get out of your reading rut. I have recently read two books by new authors, Jane Haddam and Linwood Barclay. Haddam’s Cheating at Solitaire was a disappointment to me. Liking the game solitaire, I was looking forward to a good book. However, after getting more than half-way through it, I found little reason to continue. Barclay’s No Time for Goodbye, on the other hand, kept my attention from the very first page and kept me guessing as to what happened, until the answer was finally revealed.
Feel free to share your experiences with any new authors you have read.
Please join us for our annual Holiday Open House. Our lovely Victorian building will be decorated in celebration of the holiday season. We will have snacks, music and something for the kids!
We coordinate our Open House with the Slate Valley Museum so you can also visit there across the walking bridge.
“Open craft night.” People can bring in their card making supplies and work here, sharing materials and ideas.
Some basic materials you might bring:
card stock, stickers, scissors, holiday scrapbooking paper, glitter, glue sticks, stamps & ink pads, etc.
Below are some samples; there are several others on display at the library.
Do you have any movies in need a new home? We are looking for donations of DVDs, in good condition, to add to our collection.
Sending an email through the link on the right may be a little tricky. If you click on “Email” and an email program opens that you usually use, you are all set.
However, if it opens an email program that you don’t usually use, try this:
Click on “Email.” Copy the email address that appears in the “to” field.
Open your email program in a new window or new tab. Paste the email address into the “to” field in your usual email program. Write and send your email as usual.
